Review of Adorning the Dark

I made a goal for the new year, and that is to read at least 50 or more books. The first book that I decided to read was Adorning the Dark by Andrew Peterson. Let me just state right away that this is an excellent book for those who are interested in songwriting. There are a few areas that discuss writing as well.

Throughout this book, Andrew Peterson shares stories of his life to drive certain points home. He shows what it’s like to use our creativity for God’s glory. If you read the back of the book’s cover, you’ll gain an overall summary of what his book is about.

Okay, here comes my honest thoughts. I really enjoyed reading this book. It took me 6 days to read it. I enjoyed how Andrew Peterson told stories of his own life. I liked reading the successes and what he learned along the way to get there. The tips provided in this book are amazing and simple to comprehend. I highlighted a lot of points to look back on.

In my opinion, I think the recommended age for reading this book is probably teen to adult. The reason I think this is because people in that age group would be able to benefit the most from the tips provided in this book.

If anyone were to follow Andrew Peterson’s advice, which I highly recommend, they would see improvements in their creative projects. After reading this book, my thoughts have changed regarding certain things.

Hopefully this review didn’t sound like a bunch of rambling. I said what I could without spoiling the entire book. I really do think it a great book for any creative Christian person wanting to look at an example of someone who uses their creativity as a job and to bring glory to God.

My rating:

Rating: 5 out of 5.
