After reading and reviewing Adorning the Dark, I decided to read the book Atomic Habits. I heard many good reviews about this book. A lot of people recommended reading it, so I decided to give it a shot. I will give my thoughts later on, but for now I will give a brief description of the book.
This book is for anyone wanting to build up good, lasting habits in their life. James Clear, the author, challenges you to change your mind set on a few different things that can impact your future. In this book he talks about how systems are better than goals. He talks about how to make a habit, hard or easy, enjoyable. James Clear shows how you can reshape your mind in regard to progress and success. Topics that one could overthink, he simplifies.
This book shows the baby steps to having a successful future, all it requires is consistency from the reader.
Now I will tell you my thoughts about the book. I was genuinely amazed when reading it. It was such a fantastic book, I learned so many new things. Each chapter gave such great advice. I even started practicing Clear’s ways of building good habits. I view life a bit differently now, meaning, I want to do more to better my future and I’m thinking of ways to do so. I highly recommend this book to anyone that is wanting to clear their life of bad habits and is wanting to make their life easier. Having the mindset talked about in this book can really help you have a more responsible view of the world.
This book is geared towards later teens (16+) and adults, in my opinion. It mentions sex a few times, nothing explicit. It was spoken as a natural thing for humans. It mentioned several types of addictions such as drugs, smoking, vaping, porn, and overeating.
As good of a book that it was, I did have a small issue with it. The issue was that James Clear wrote that our ancestors lived 10,000+ years ago. I am a Creationist, so I did not really agree with his statements about those years. However, I will say that he wasn’t crazy or terrible about it which was nice. It didn’t feel like he was going out of his way to shove that information in your face and expected you to believe it. He just stated what he thought and moved on.
